Berry Lovers!

Berry Lovers…Jacobs Family Berry Farm just received news that their bee keeper (LS Bees) has harvested about 500 more pounds of honey from this property. He says “ these bees have gone absolutely nuts”. This is good news as many of you have been picking some of this up and enjoying it.

More good news…they just finished putting up 90 jars of jam. They now have three varieties: Blackberry, Red Raspberry, and now a Mixed Berry (both raspberry & blackberry). The flavor is terrific with the berries now at peak flavor, it makes the jam even more special. Price is $10 for a 6.4 ounce (190ml) container. Each jar has nearly a full pint of berries and low sugar. Our recipe is 70% berries, 26% sugar, and 4% pectin.

Also, they're picking berries daily and getting 4-6 flats per day. Anyone who is interested in making their own jam or freeze for the winter, this is a good time to get berries as the flavor is wonderful. They're not sure how long this year’s harvest will continue…hopefully for another month, but Nevada’s weather can change.

Thanks for your continued support. They're having a great berry season because you have come to their farm. Let us know if there are any better ways we can serve you. We also enjoy the interesting conversations with you when you stop by.

Dangberg Summer Concert Series

The Novelists, a nationally touring acoustic group with multiple lead singers, are the headliners. They've built their sound around storytelling and four-part harmonies. The group’s debut release, Backstory, is a dense, flawlessly executed nine-song acoustic introduction to the songwriting, musicianship and artistry of its band members.

A sultry vocalist, Vanessa Littrell, introduces the evening in the style of Sarah McLachlan and Norah Jones. With two albums of original songs, and a third on the way, she is a local favorite.

$10/adults, free for 16 and younger when accompanied by an adult. Tickets are available locally at Joyce’s Fine Jewelry, Battle Born Wine, Plant It Nursery and The Entertainer. Or, on-line ticketing is at: http://dangbergconcertjune.eventbrite.com/.

Collin Raye and His Band in Concert

Five-time nominee for country music's Male Vocalist of the Year, Collin Raye returns to the Carson Valley Inn on Friday, August 23. Raye performed "unplugged" to sell-out crowds in the Inn's Valley Ballroom in both 2011 and 2012. This time he appears with his band in a full concert production in the CVI's new outdoor Valley Sky Theatre.

Twenty-three of Collin's 25 singles went top 10; fifteen of these going all the way to #1. Some of his biggest hits were ballads"Love, Me", "Little Rock" and "In This Life" plus rockers "I Think About You", "My Kind of Girl", "That's My Story" and "I Want You Bad." You'll enjoy many of these hits and more at his outdoor concert at the Carson Valley Inn on August 23.

One of the true hitmakers of the 1990's, Collin Raye still continues to crank out soulful, heartfelt material with the honesty and richness that is signature to his vocals on his StarPointe Records label. Collin first performed at the Carson Valley Inn in the late 1980s as the leader of The Wray Brothers Band. He signed a record deal with Epic Records in 1990 and his debut single "All I Can Be is a Sweet Memory" reached #29 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles and Tracks charts.

Raye shot to fame with "Love, Me" in 1991. Listeners were so touched that they used its lyrics at funerals and memorial services. That set the cornerstone for a career built on meaningful songs. "Little Rock" was an anthem for the recovery community. "Not That Different" pleaded for tolerance. "In This Life" became a wedding favorite. He won awards for the child-advocacy video "I Think About You."

Tickets are $20 for General Seating and $28 for VIP Seating and are available at the Carson Valley Inn hotel desk or by phone at 775-783-6606. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.

The Carson Valley Inn (www.carsonvalleyinn.com) is located on US Hwy 395 in Minden, NV near the start of State Hwy 88, twenty minutes from Lake Tahoe's south shore and 45 minutes south of Reno. The property includes a casino, sports and race book, 150-room hotel, 74-room motor lodge, 59-site RV Park and a convenience store with Shell gas and diesel fuel. Carson Valley: Rugged. Relaxed. Reachable.

Carson Valley: Rugged. Relaxed. Reachable. Once you see Carson Valley, it's easy to remember what Nevada was like long ago when people came seeking its earthly riches: rugged, friendly, unspoiled. It's a place where the night sky is still lit up with stars instead of neon, where seeing the scenery is more important than making "the scene". Here itineraries are shaped by nature, not nagging schedules.

Thirsty Third Thursday!

Main Street Gardnerville will once again be hosting "Thirsty Third Thursday" Wine Walks taking place the third Thursday of each month, May-September, 4:30 - 7:30 pm. The cost is $10 for registration and $5 for a commemorative Main Street Gardnerville Wine Glass (glasses purchased this year can be used at any future Thirsty Third Thursday event). Each Wine Walk brings out anywhere from 300-500 registered Wine Walkers to the downtown district. The money raised covers expenses and goes back into the community to support Main Street Gardnerville's revitalization efforts of the historic downtown district!!!
