Join us at this months Astronomical Society Star Party at River Fork Ranch Nature Conservancy this Friday, January 25th at 6:30pm and enjoy a look into space views such as this one. Kids more than welcome, we will have step stools and a warm fire. Hope to see you there!

Have you ever wanted to learn to fly?
Soaring is the art and science of using the natural movements of the atmosphere to stay aloft, climb, and travel long distances in a motor-less aircraft. In this course you will learn about the sport of soaring, including what it takes to fly a glider, how to obtain a private pilot certificate with a glider rating, and why Douglas County is one of the best places in the world to fly gliders. In addition, students will learn about basic aerodynamics and performance of gliders, how the basic flight maneuvers are performed, and how to use the flight instruments. A glider specific flight simulator will be used for demonstrations, and for students to practice what they learn. Flight lessons are available separately.
